VSL: Heat 92-83

NBA.com:
The Miami Heat surged to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Detroit Pistons 92-83 (boxscore) in the night cap of Day 6 at the 2010 NBA Summer League on the campus of the UNLV.
The Heat led by as many as 18 points, but the Pistons wouldn't quit, cutting Miami's lead to six late in the fourth quarter before coming up short.

Detroit looked sluggish in the first, connecting on two field goals and shooting 15 percent from the floor as Miami surged to an early 11-point lead. The Pistons scored nine of their 13 first-quarter points from the free-throw line, missing just once. The Pistons outscored the Heat 18-17 in the second, but couldn't cut the lead to fewer than seven. Miami's lead hovered around 10 for much of the second, helped by Devon Jefferson's seven points and Jermaine Beal's five. The Heat took a 40-31 lead into halftime.
Holding on to a 10-point lead, the Heat continued to play consistent, outscoring the Pistons by five in the third on the back of Garret Siler's seven-point quarter and Beal's six points. Greg Monroe added nine for Detroit in the third, while DaJuan Summers added seven.
Summers and Monroe scored 20 points apiece for Detroit, while Weyinmi Efejuku finished with 19 for Miami.
Both teams will enjoy an off day tomorrow, returning to 2010 NBA Summer League action on Friday, when the Heat take on the Milwaukee Bucks and the Pistons face the New York Knicks.
